When is tooth extraction justified?
Unfortunately, despite the greatest care and diligent oral hygiene, there are cases where tooth extraction is necessary. Extraction may be indicated for a loose tooth weakened by periodontal disease, a decayed or fractured tooth that cannot be saved, a problematic root-treated tooth, a tooth that causes infection or inflammation, or a wisdom tooth that is obstructed in its eruption and causing pain. Tooth extraction may also be required for orthodontic treatment purposes.
