Alternatives to complete removable dentures:
- Only with the placement of implants is it possible to create other types of prostheses.
- The completed prostheses should also be checked every six months. This allows us to detect if any part is too "long" and needs polishing, or if the plastic needs to be "replaced," in which case relining is necessary.
But what is relining?
Relining refers to the application of a new plastic layer to the inner surface of a plastic base prosthesis that comes into contact with the jawbone ridge (gum).
Why is it necessary? Because just as our entire body changes, the mucosal-bone foundation supporting the prosthesis also shrinks. After a few years, the prosthesis becomes loose and unstable, which is the main sign that it needs to be relined.
How is it done? The most perfect solution is to take an impression with the prosthesis in place, and have it made by a dental technician. However, with modern, high-quality materials, excellent results can also be achieved directly in the clinic.
